Instruments function in retracted and extended modes. One-hand operation with fingertip control of volume and sensitivity, easy-access battery compartment and battery indicator. Signal increases in frequency with gradient field intensity (10-Hz idle frequency). Units are powered by 9V batteries. Extended, they measure 26"L; collapsed, 15-1/2"L.
