Accurate soil moisture measurements are critical for determining proper irrigation rates for higher crop yields and effective plant growth. This meter uses a series of gypsum blocks and wire leads placed at various depths to produce a profile of available soil moisture. To use, bury several blocks in representative areas to monitor changes. To read the available moisture, simply attach the wire leads to the terminal posts on the meter. Readings can be converted to soil moisture or moisture tension with the included operating instructions.
Specifications: Each block is constructed of gypsum cast around stainless steel electrodes to obtain maximum uniformity and fast response to changing moisture conditions. The digital meter is housed in a rugged ABS plastic case and features temperature stable semi-conductor technology, calibration checks, large LCD and spring-loaded binding posts for positive contact with the gypsum block leads. Meter includes carrying case and 9V battery. Gypsum block sensors sold separately in packs of four with 6'L leads. Range: 0.1–15 bars tension. Display: LCD with 0–100 arbitrary scale. Unit is 2 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 1 3/4". Weighs 8 oz.
